Camping Klosterneuburg, west of Vienna, at the Danube.
Camping Vienna West.
Shelter on a rainy day for cooking and resting is always a gift.
Yes - clean cotton sheets AND a shower!
Around the Rax-Schneeberg-group.
Often enough things were closed. For the season, for the day, for whatnot. So I took the freedom to tent on a leveled ground.
I asked the waitress at the restaurant where I had dinner, and the owner acquiesced.
The days when the torential rain hit many parts of Central Europe.
Still raining.
I keep believing that the owner placed the crucifix in the distance, overlooking the cabin, as a preventative measure.
Another official campgound.
At the geographical center of Carinthia, with a camera in place that would send the picture right into the web.
Since cows are almost always present, a fence is a welcome detail.
That church was not in use anymore and I was happy to hide away.
More bad weather.
The Dolomites are one rugged mountain range. Here above Sexten, South Tyrol.
No flat spot to be found and the local police enforcing the ban on camping around Lake Sorapiss.
Sooner or later (as in this case) there is always a place to pitch the tent. Here between the densely populated section between Cortina de Ampezzo and San Vito di Cadore.
This pretty campsite helped me to restore my calm after somewhat losing my composure due to the crowds of people above Cortina de Ampezzo.
Camping Colfosco: a shower, supplies and electricity.
Indoor gun range Lajen - South Tyrol. After recommendation by two senior ladies at the cafe.
Once again, no one was around, so I took the liberty to pitch my tent.
Above Marlengo next to Merano. The best place far and wide with the next day's path to the left side of the picture.
I consider a ground cloth essential to protect the actual tent floor.
Camping Residence Sägemühle. A top notch place.
Free access to the winter room at Malga di Prato. But the sheets were repulsive.
Again: out of necessity closer to a frequented gravel road than I favored.
Next to a path frequented by cows. Which I did not know, however.
Hotel Chiareggio. What a wonderful place to stay!
Rifugio Bosio Galli. Very modern.
Can't be too picky. No level place without vegetation on these steep slopes. This was a house of the local water supply.
Nighttime lighting on campgrounds is a nuisance that should not be underestimated. Here I found a dark niche. Camping La Torre, Sorico, Lago di Como.
