2023 GR10 camps
Les Deux Jumeaux, Hendaye
Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port — with many pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
Gîte d'étape Kaskoleta.
Wide open mountain slopes, yet so few flat spots for a tent.
Still Refuge Gabizos.
With a view of the Pic du Vignemale.
Chalet la Grange de Holle near Gavarnie.
Cabane de Sardiche — closed, after a long hike into the evening with hardly a spot to camp — but one, just enough.
Lac d'aumar.
Soon after the village of Azet.
Refuge Lac d'Oô.
Camping Des Thermes - Bagneres de Luchon.
Melles — Haute-Garonne (Occitania)
Close to Refuge de l’Étang d’Araing.
Dodging a down pour.
A bit trashy.
But easily fixed.
Another hut, just in time before the downpour began.
Les Spartiates - close to Seix.
Cabane d'Aula. Once again, it spares me from the pouring rain.
Gîte d'étape de Rouze d'Ustou.
Camped at Rouze d'Ustou.
Ustou Municipal Campsite.
Late in the evening, after a miserable climb down a ladder in the fog, a beacon in the mist.
In Spain again. Just past Estany de Romedo de Baix.
Just before the village of Marc.
The night before the descent into Val-de-Sos.
Camping La Bexanelle (Val-de-Sos) — practically all to myself.
The village of Siguer — the free hikers’ shelter was full, and the kind mayor opened the much better alternative just for me.
Cabane de Clarans.
Boxes with food and drinks, payment on trust.
Cabane de la Jasse de Mourguillou — not quite the Hilton, but more than enough.
Cabane de Rouzet — nothing but the bare floor, yet you only see faces this happy out on the trail.
Four people squeezed into the tiny space to avoid spending a very stormy night outside.
Refuge du Llobins — part of Tous à Poêle, such a wonderful kind of hospitality!
Camping in the village of Err (just past Saillagouse) — off-season, everything quiet, and the owner shows me a spot and lets me camp for free.
Alberg Núria Xanascat — once again in Spain, on the GR11 for the rest of the hike.
All windows closed — except one. Looks unstaffed, too late in the season.
But what a wonderful surprise — newly renovated, spotless, and incredibly comfortable.
Setcases — shared the room with another hiker.
Beget, Mas de la Cabana — super friendly people, incredibly beautiful village.
Sant Aniol d'Agulla, Catalonia.
With a warm stove, and dry inside!
Camping Bassegoda Park — off-season, very quiet.
Tenting just beneath La Vajol.
Village of Cantallops.
Sant Silvestre de Valleta.
Camping L’Ombra Llançà — on the Mediterranean.
