Bad choice. Exposed to the max. A thunderstorm made me leave the tent during the night.
A few "lightning rods" other than my tent made for a good sleep.
Horizontal, level tent sites are not always easy to find.
A public, semi offical, campground in an otherwise unserviced area.
My 1st night at Lescun's campground.
My 2nd night. Easy to tell why I d rather give them a miss.
Pegging things down while the thunderstorm was starting. At least I was not sticking my head out. But the wind was impressive.
Decided to dine at Refuge d'Arlet. But the place turned out to be a hot spot. My tent to the far left, ways away from the crowds.
My mistake. Open shutters should have told me that someone may come in the evening. This was the case.
And the (female) shepherd was not amused. I had to move and team up with a young French.
A very inhospitable valley for camping. The only (but perfect) spot was on that knoll to the right in front of the grey big boulder. See next picture for a close up.
After descending the Ossoue pass (2734 m).
Next to an unused shepherd's hut.
Peninsula Camp. Tiny spot right of centre. Close up see next picture.
A snug fit.
Camping above Refuge du Portillion with a view onto next day's climb: up and across the pass "Col de Inferieur de Literole" at 2983 m.
Camping Ixeia close to Benasque (resupply).
Sleeping out of doors is the essence of such trips.
The rising sun kissing the mountain tops.
Last night before hitting Salardu.
Camping in Arties. Only when realy in need for resupply, a shower, or new equipment.
This is solitude! Most of the time the day hikers are leaving the scene in the evening.
Cabana Pleta Serrera. With poor weather in the making and no good camp spot in sight ...
...this hut was just too inviting to resist.
First night by Refugi de Juclar.
With continuos poor weather I decided in favour of luxury.
Sligthly off the main track: camping at Savignac-les-Ormeaux.
On my way back to the HRP proper from Ax-les-Thermes.
At the foot of Pic Carlite. To be crossed the next day.
Sharing a campsite with Alberto de la Madrid (caminarcadadia.blogspot.com) just above Refugi d'Ulldeter.
Above Refuge de Mariailles.
The branches served to keep the sheep away from the tent.
Again slightly off the "official" track: Amelie-les-Bains-Palalda.
Tranquile Can Felix.
Right on the French-Spanisch border.
My last night in solitude with a view down to the french Mediterranean coast.
Final campsite in Banyuls-sur-Mer. Could have been worse if there was not always a nightly illumination on campgrounds.
